About Shani

My path to becoming a therapist began long before I became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

For most of my career, I have worked alongside individuals and families during moments of crisis. Before entering social work, I worked as a domestic violence advocate, crisis hotline counselor, and shelter-based crisis worker, supporting individuals facing some of the most difficult and uncertain circumstances of their lives. Since then, my work has included crisis intervention, psychiatric care, substance use treatment, intensive family therapy, community mental health, hospital-based services, and outpatient therapy.

Throughout my career, I have worked with adolescents, adults, and families navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioral challenges, substance use, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and mental health crises. My experience spans multiple levels of care, from outpatient treatment and intensive in-home services to psychiatric hospitals and community crisis response.

These experiences have shaped how I approach therapy today. While many people come to therapy during periods of distress, I believe therapy is about more than managing symptoms or getting through a crisis. It is about understanding yourself more fully, recognizing your strengths, developing effective coping strategies, and creating meaningful change that lasts beyond the immediate challenge.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my two fur babies and making time for the people and moments that help me recharge. Maintaining a healthy balance and making time for the things that bring me joy are values I genuinely believe in, and the same principles I encourage in therapy matter just as much in my own life.

Clients often describe me as warm, direct, and easy to talk to. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable being yourself, exploring difficult topics without judgment, and moving at a pace that feels right for you. Whether you are facing a specific challenge or simply feeling stuck, therapy can provide an opportunity to gain insight, build resilience, and move toward the life you want to create.

Seeking support takes courage, and you do not have to do it alone. I would be honored to be part of your journey.
